summer 2005 in an acorn nutshell

so, it's been a long time and while i feel like i should apologize (though who i'm apologizing to has the potential to allude me) i think i should just leave it at this: dial-up internet stinks and i don't have the patience to work on a blog when it takes an hour for every link i click on to load. now that that's been said...
this summer has been a whirlwind with so much change, so many events, and so much goodness.
i moved home to colorado springs at the end of may and as i was driving down division street in spokane for the last time as a resident i almost burst out of my skin i was so happy to finally be leaving. for those of you who've never ventured to spokane, it's really not a horrible town so go, visit, boost their economy... i just did not want to live there anymore. coming home was great because it meant that i got a break from being a grown-up for a while and if you think that's not an excellent thing, i think you're lying. my only task was to plan my wedding and if i say that i loved every minute of it, then I'D be lying. in fact, many times in the month of june i was heard uttering the words, 'i will never get married again! you couldn't pay me to do this again!' ~sigh~ drama drama drama.
in the middle of my planning- right about the time when i became numb and was no longer excited for anything- God gave me a chance to get away from it all. my BFF- translation: Best Friend Forever- amy and i went to virginia for the 4th of july weekend to visit our other BFF elissa and her husband, the chad (also a BFF). it was hot and sticky and very historical. we saw edgar allen poe's old dorm room at the university of virginia and thomas jefferson's house where i learned his favorite veggie was peas. we also went to his vineyard and tasted wine which was a very sophisticated way to have fun. for the actual 4th of july we went to washington d.c. and watched an amazing 20 minute fireworks show with way too many other people. let's just say it was a nightmare getting home and a lot of American's are very pushy and impatient. but we also got to go to the zoo and see the new baby cheetah's- jealous? then i got home and realized i was getting married in like 9 days and i freaked out.
i'll skip all the boring details about wedding planning and go to the fun parts. my family started arriving from the east coast which was great as i haven't seen most of them for 5-6 years and then my BFF sarah came from spokane and i loved having her here so much that my new goal in life is to convince her she needs to move here. brian's family started arriving and in the midst of everything, brian was driving to denver almost every day going to job interviews (bless his heart). our good friend karla will go down in history as the most creative wedding shower planner ever as she threw us an amazing shower in which brian and i were separated on a scavenger hunt/walk down memory lane/race to the finish. let's just say it involved me dressed up as napolean dynamite dancing his routine in the parking lot of a goodwill.
now, the wedding: it was amazing and just how i'd always pictured it and i would do it again in a second. it was by far the best day of my life and i cried when it was all over. i've never felt prettier or happier and it was so fun to have all my family and friends in one place. i will forever be jealous of girls getting married from now on. cherish every second!! then brian and i went on our honeymoon but i'll leave that for another post as i think if i make this one any longer, you will leave and never come back.
