sharing my faith

yesterday i suggested to my boss that in order to improve our numbers, we should make our admissions department a God-centered department... and that the first step would be to have each advisor pray over each person before they call them to try and get them to go to school there. my suggestion was met with much silence and then he said: "i think i'll stick with luck". so i said (with a very hopeful and glorious look on my face): "but God is SO much bigger than luck!" and he looked at me in silence and then walked away. can't say i didn't try.

grammar 101 for baseball

brian and i went to the Rockies game the other night; the night, in fact, that Barry Bonds broke the record. Barry has nothing to do with this post though, that was just a side comment. all i want to say is that i discovered something about baseball that makes me want to twitch. i was enjoying the game when i happened to glance over at the big screen only to see this phrase: "Flied to Left". i shook it off and figured it was some baseball term i didn't know. then i looked over again to see "Flied to center". it then occured to me that they were recapping where the ball went. i asked brian, "shouldn't that say 'Flew to center'?" he paused and said, "huh. probably. i never thought about it before." just because it's a popular sport they shouldn't be able to get away with such a heinous (and i use 'heinous' just for dramatic effect; i'm not THAT worked up about it) grammatical error. it's America'
