January 30, 2011: Today I finished Mr. Fatty Robot Face's friend. I didn't name him yet but I do think his head is too small for his body and I had "fat guy in a little coat" in my head the whole time I made him.

January 29, 2011: I love shoes. I found these on sale at Dillards today and they were still a little bit of a splurge for me but, I couldn't resist. I had walked away from a pair of shoes a month ago due to the price and have regretted it ever since so I guess these are making up for it. Did I mention I love shoes?

January 28, 2011: Turns out, sometimes technical difficulties can be solved with a little 'restart' action. Today was just about 70 degrees and I only had to work until noon = awesome. I decided to go for a bike ride (after I discovered I am capable of getting my bike off of the garage ceiling without Brian's help ). I could be heard giving myself audible pep-talks throughout, that went something like this: "You are young, you are healthy, you can peddle up this hill darnit!"

January 27, 2011: Still experiencing technical difficulties so here's another ancient 2003 cell phone picture. This is Brian's p-p-p-poker face.

January 26, 2011: Due to technical difficulties, I am unable to transfer any pictures onto the computer at the moment. Therefore, I've scrounged up some totally ancient pictures from my first cell phone in 2003. This is my face with Palouse Falls in the background. I've always enjoyed that the sky looks like it's on fire.

January 25, 2011: Chuck was getting too much press on here so it's Skookum's turn to be featured. Plus, I accidentally stepped on Chuck's foot today in my nice, heavy, wedge heels and she's not talking to me right now. It's been a traumatic day for the Stoess cats. I stepped on Chuck, she screamed bloody-murder, which scared Skookum half to death and sent her into a coughing attack and now Chuck won't come near me. She gets her grudge-holding skills from me (and now I've verified how cat-lady I really am for those who weren't sure).

January 24, 2011: Let me introduce you to Mr. Fatty Robot Face (he's a little chubby, I'll admit it). I'm a little nervous to put this picture on here...this is one of the robots I finished for a friend to give to their son for his birthday and I hope she likes it! Again, I like it but I'm biased. :)

January 23, 2011: Thank you, King Soopers garlic bread for being a heart attack in a bag. Sincerely, Jaime P.S. you don't need to use 3 sticks of butter per slice to make it taste good. Honestly, if you want my opinion, bread is pretty tasty all by itself even.

January 22, 2011: Snowshoeing at the top of Wildernest. It was gorgeous, mildly blizzard-esque at times and a lot of fun. We also helped push a car out of the snow and were going to offer to help another car until we realized one of the gentlemen was not wearing pants (see picture below but you'll have to zoom in quite a bit) .

January 21, 2011: A glimpse of the amazing town home we are staying at this weekend in Dillon. We are very lucky to be here spending time with some new friends! Now that I don't have a free ski pass, the pressure is suddenly off to make myself go snowboarding. Brian's new response: "Well...maybe you shouldn't go if you don't enjoy it". Translation: Don't waste my money.

January 20, 2011: Went and got my hair done today; told her I wanted "fun and retro" with lots of bangs. She did a great job and my hair is so fun. I know I'll never be able to do it as well as she did so I thought I'd do a mini photo shoot to document and Chuck kept getting in the way so I decided to embrace her presence. And, then I took a cheesy owner with cat photo (below). We're headed up to the mountains for a long weekend with some church friends so probably won't post any more pictures until Sun/Mon. Have a great weekend!

January 19, 2011: Taking a little trip down memory lane with Five Iron Frenzy. Man, I love these guys. So many fun memories of driving up to Denver in high school to see them and many of these albums got me through some rough days in college. I was especially delighted to be reminded of their song about Colorado entitled "You Probably Shouldn't Move Here". FIF forever!

January 18, 2011: If I stop paying attention to Chuck for longer than a minute, this is what she does. Every time. It's either a 'you-are-so-neglectful-you-killed-me' gesture or a 'did-you-forget-how-cute-my-belly-is-you-know-you-can't-resist-me" gesture. Either way, she's a bucket of laughs and if I live to be 90 it will be because of all the years she's added to my life.

January 17, 2011: Happy Martin Luther King Jr Day! I visited the ARC today for their 50% off holiday sale and found this lovely tin tray. Now I need to have people over so there's a need to carry many items all at once. Want to come over? P.S. After I posted this, I googled the tray to see if it's really vintage and I love it when I can actually find it and realize I saved a lot of money . I bought mine for $2!

January 16, 2011: I sold a felt ninja doll at the craft fair in December and my co-worker requested a zombie, a pirate, and a vampire to add to the collection. I finally got my inspiration for the zombie and pirate (vampire is pending my lack of black felt, plus the need to get Edward's face out of my head whenever I think 'vampire'). I think they turned out pretty cute, but I'm biased. If you want one, let me know! (They're $6)

January 14, 2011: Today, after work, we stopped at Target to get some things for dinner. A lady walked in with us holding a light bulb (presumably to try and get the same kind). She dropped it and it broke into a million pieces. I jumped and said, "What was that?!" and Brian said, "She had an idea but she lost it". I'm still laughing.

January 13, 2011: It's Brian's night to make dinner. He made soup and I said, "Oh, did you use up the chicken stock?" He nodded and said, "AND the beef stock and some bouillon cubes". We ended up at Taco Bell.

January 11, 2011: I like today's date. Makes me totally excited for November 11, 2011. Anywho, since I'm learning to knit, my mom brought me her grandma's knitting carrying case. I was sad her actual knitting needles weren't in there but there is a partially finished project and some instruction manuals circa 1968. It smells old and I love it. Maybe some day I can finish my great Nana's sweater; I just have to learn to speak 'knit' and right now I can only make scarves (sort of, still need to learn how to finish them off).

January 10, 2011: Why, thank you...so, shouldn't your people put in an offer? p.s. "Scott Pilgrim vs the World" rocked mine .

January 9, 2011: Welcome to my plan for tonight. The weather has delivered a lovely snowstorm and I have, in turn, put on my sweats and have successfully laid low today. I'm pretty stoked about watching this movie and am highly optimistic since I can count the number of movies that have disappointed me on one hand. I am a gifted movie watcher, what can I say. Enjoy your Sunday evening!

January 8, 2011: Falafel and wine? Don't mind if I do. After soaking in the hot tub we played a great new game called "Revelations" and enjoyed some refreshments. I laughed so hard my head and my stomach hurt at times (one of my favorite things) and I'm hoping it helped me gain some years back as I slowly creep closer to my 30th birthday.

January 7, 2011: Met some old friends downtown for a fun weekend to celebrate Karen's 30th birthday. We started with free cocktails in the hotel lounge and then ventured downtown for a late dinner. We took the light-rail and are by no means pro's at using the local public transportation... so we weren't always sure what we were doing but we successfully made it to and back (thanks to Andrew, our fearless leader).

January 6, 2011: It was Brian's night to cook but when I got home he said, "I ain't cooking, let's go". We ended up at Big City Burrito because Brian bought 8 of the "Buy one get one free" groupons a while ago and we now have to use them up by the end of this month. That is not to be interpreted as a complaint, I love me some Big City Burrito (side note: we usually replace the 'c' with 'sh' and then think we're really clever. We're cool like that, and really we're just plagiarizing South Park). Happy Thursday!

January 5, 2011: Oh man, don't even get me started about this movie. I saw this at Target for $10 and didn't think twice before snatching it up. Janson and I were what I like to call "movie babies". We had this video of movies we recorded off of TV (mostly from the Disney Channel whenever we got it as a free week-long promo) and this particular video had "Million Dollar Duck", "Sword and the Stone", and "The Muppet Caper" all in a row. We'd just pop that baby in each day and watch it from beginning to end. I just watched this movie and talk about comfort. All of those sounds in the movie took me back to a much, much simpler time that I often long to return to. Thanks Target!

January 4, 2011: Look who found adorable fabric at Wal-Mart today! I randomly ended up there on my lunch break when I was banned from my house for a last minute Realtor showing. I hardly ever go to Wal-Mart anymore, especially for fabric, so I was extremely pleased about this little find. Sorry the picture is kind of dark. It is winter after all and my house is dark.

an old idea but a good one

It took me a while to decide to commit but I have decided that this year I want to post a picture each day. I love 'chronicling' my life so this fits in quite nicely. I also hope it will help me remember the simple things this year. Since it's already January 3rd, let's catch up: January 3, 2011 : I've decided to learn to knit. So far, I don't find it as relaxing as people have led me to believe. My fingers hurt as well as my back and my neck. However, I have no plans to give it up quite yet. January 2, 2011 : I got me some western boots! Thanks Christmas money! Now I just have to learn how to wear ankle cowboy boots. I think I changed 16 times this morning trying to figure something out. In the midst of that fiasco I heard myself utter the statement I usually revert back to: If only I could manage to lose 15 lbs, wearing these would be so effortless. Gotta love the "If only" statements. Maybe I should make a resolution to stop using those.
