Worm Savior

Lately, my daily walks include worm rescue missions. I can't walk away when I see a worm performing the death squirm on the sidewalk. I can't stand to see anything wriggle slowly towards death but worms are the lucky ones because I'm not terrified of touching them. Today there was a giant worm in a puddle. I went to rescue him but it would violently squirm away from me each time I tried so I said, "Fine, go ahead and drown" and continued on my walk. 15 minutes later I still couldn't shake the image of the worm dying when I could obviously bully him into cooperating. I mean, it's not like he's stronger than me. So, I back-tracked and found a twig that I thought would help me get a handle on him. He had actually made it out of the puddle, which I'm sure he felt pretty stoked about, except that he was inching his way into the street. I said, "Way to waste all your energy to be run over by a car. I mean, these people run over bunnies and squirrels...

Hola! We spent the first weekend of the month (also known as Labor Day Weekend) celebrating our labors in Seattle. We met Brian's parents there and stayed with my brother-in-law Aaron who graciously opened his home to us. We spent the majority of our time at Bumbershoot which was both fun and exhausting. Did you know that Bumbershoot is another word for an umbrella? A festival that is basically called Umbrella in Seattle- get it? However, we were lucky and had cloudless, sunny skies the whole weekend and left our bumbershoots at home. This is titled "They underestimated the popularity of School of Seven Bells" and probably should have put them in a bigger venue. The line was super long. Probably the best snack of all time- right Kristen Correia? Brian and I sat on the roof-top patio of Aaron's building to enjoy the view and I'm pretty sure I drank half of this bottle myself. When I got back to work, some of the student workers had decorated my desk with stickers...

A little side note...

Lately I've been trying to follow the guidelines for the "Eat Right 4 Your Blood-type" diet. I'm type A+ which is a great grade to receive but a really challenging diet to follow. In a nutshell, the way I perceive it is that it's vegan, gluten-free, with limited veggies and fruit. Humph. There are actually a lot of things that are still available they just aren't the typical things I've been eating for the past 30 years so it makes my brain cramp to think outside the box so much. But, tonight I made lentil patties & both Brian and I went back for more. First I had to learn to cook lentils and the rest was easy. I thought I'd share the recipe in case anyone else is interested. First thing's first- How to Cook Lentils A couple things to know: 1 cup of dry lentils = 2 cups cooked lentils Always use a 2:1 ratio. 2 parts H2O : 1 part lentils 1. Put your desired amount of dry lentils in a pan & cover with the corresponding amount o...

On this week's episode of my life... I was out walking the dog on my lunch break and when I came back to the front door this monster made me jump. He was seriously the size of my finger and not something I'm used to seeing here in CO. I think it's a caterpillar...Is it? I dunno, I just hope he eats spiders because there have been too many daddylonglegs on my door frame lately. On Friday night we took my parents to see The Beatles Tribute Band at Red Rocks as a late anniversary gift. This is a crappy picture but proves I was there. I really enjoyed it! I was only disappointed that they only paid tribute to their early stuff and didn't venture into the 70's. I would recommend it, I think they said they come every year to commemorate when The Beatles played at Red Rocks in 1964. One of my favorite moments was when they told the crowd to purchase their CD and my mom leaned over to me and whispered, "People know they can still purchase actual Beatles...

Has it really been since August 8th that I've posted?? Whoa. Let us begin the recap... The majority of arguments that occur between Brian and I are in regards to cleaning. If one of us is in the mood to clean and the other isn't, resentment and passive-aggressive sighs and banging ensue. We had a list of chores when we had our house on the market and that seemed to solve everything. I have my list, he has his and as long as we get our respective things done at some point during the week, life is good. So, Brian made a new chore list: As I was downloading the next picture I realized the theme for this month is our house and various projects within. Brian decided to rearrange the guest room a little bit and my need for a more organized crafting setup became glaringly obvious. I had things stuffed EVERYWHERE. I'm hoping IKEA can eventually help me out with that... In other news, was glancing through a People Magazine and found it amusing to see that Usher's ki...
