s-n-o-w

it's October 21st and i woke up to our first snow storm. that, to me, feels way too early. i'm a little depressed now.

sharing my faith

yesterday i suggested to my boss that in order to improve our numbers, we should make our admissions department a God-centered department... and that the first step would be to have each advisor pray over each person before they call them to try and get them to go to school there. my suggestion was met with much silence and then he said: "i think i'll stick with luck". so i said (with a very hopeful and glorious look on my face): "but God is SO much bigger than luck!" and he looked at me in silence and then walked away. can't say i didn't try.

grammar 101 for baseball

brian and i went to the Rockies game the other night; the night, in fact, that Barry Bonds broke the record. Barry has nothing to do with this post though, that was just a side comment. all i want to say is that i discovered something about baseball that makes me want to twitch. i was enjoying the game when i happened to glance over at the big screen only to see this phrase: "Flied to Left". i shook it off and figured it was some baseball term i didn't know. then i looked over again to see "Flied to center". it then occured to me that they were recapping where the ball went. i asked brian, "shouldn't that say 'Flew to center'?" he paused and said, "huh. probably. i never thought about it before." just because it's a popular sport they shouldn't be able to get away with such a heinous (and i use 'heinous' just for dramatic effect; i'm not THAT worked up about it) grammatical error. it's America...

happy 5th birthday chick-fil-a on 120th Avenue

there's a chick-fil-a nearby that is celebrating their 5 year anniversary. one of their very kind employees (and i'm not singling him out, they are seriously all very kind employees- have you noticed?) came into my office and gave us some coupons for a free chicken sandwich to help them celebrate. he also handed us a flier informing us of all the fun activities they would be hosting all week in their celebration. i was immediately drawn to Monday's activity: if you go through the drive-thru to get your free sandwich, you get a free antennae ball. i have never owned an antennae ball nor have i ever really had the desire to have one but for some reason i got really excited about it. apparently i am in a stage of my life where i am ready for my first antennae ball. so i made plans to go there on my lunch break and i made sure i followed the directions exactly and went through the drive-thru. the very nice drive-thru cashier handed me my bag of goodness and... alas, she did no...

I'm back

i've decided to start blogging on here again. call me finicky. i just got back from the 24-hour wal-mart. the one closest to our house just so happens to be the wal-mart that doubles as a circus. and over the months, i've learned that the demographics surrounding this wal-mart like to use it as a means of entertainment for their small children. who needs a babysitter when you can just unload your children into wal-mart and let them run around and play with toys for hours on end while you can have a nice, quiet dinner at mcdonalds? i will have to log that solution away for when i have kids of my own. we went because my husband desperately needed shorts. he has been aware that he needed shorts for a while now. but tonight, tonight was the magic night that he had to go get shorts. now. (he limits his options of fine shopping when he does that. seriously.) he wanted me to come in the fitting room with him and when i took a step towards him, the fitting room guard growled, ...

abandoning ship

i've taken to writing blogs on my myspace profile instead of here on blogger because people actually read them over there... therefore, i can't say i'll be writing much on this thing in the future...and honestly, i'm not sure anyone will notice, or care. but if you DO care, join myspace. find me.

having an ad in the paper proclaiming $2 games and $2 shoes for the local bowling alley followed by the hours of operation = 5:00pm-midnight Friday night. getting to the bowling alley at 6:30pm to find the doors locked and 2 of the employees calling their boss to see if anyone with keys is going to come open it for the evening. double-checking the hours in the paper and seeing the words "subject to change" in small print next to the hours. basically, what it SHOULD have said is this: "Hours: Friday 5:00pm-midnight unless the boss finds something better to do with his time".
